Real Madrid are reportedly joining Manchester United in the pursuit of the potential transfer of Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries, who is said to have a clear preference.
Although Man Utd have been tracking Dumfries for some time, Real Madrid have joined the race in the last few days and it’s felt that a move to the Bernabeu would be the Netherlands international’s favoured destination, according to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes.
Dumfries has shone during his time in Serie A and it would be interesting to see what he could do in the Premier League with a club like United, though in fairness it’s not clear if they really need a new signing in that position after bringing in Noussair Mazraoui, who can play in both full-back positions.
Real Madrid also have options in that area of the pitch, though Dani Carvajal is not getting any younger, so it might be worth exploring alternatives.
It could be tricky for Inter to keep Dumfries, who is a big name who may well feel he’s achieved all he can at the San Siro.
The 28-year-old is a big talent and, at this age, it might be his last chance to secure a truly big move like this, so it will be interesting to see how this saga pans out.
Inter will no doubt hope they can persuade Dumfries to stay as he could be a vital player for them again this season as they look to retain their Serie A crown.
