The Prime Big Deal Days event is on its second and last day, and there are still Prime Day SSD deals to be had on Amazon for your PC or PS5.
SSD prices are generally higher in 2024 than they were in 2023, so the SSD deals we're seeing aren't always as low as they were a year ago. Price fluctuations for storage are not unusual, and 2024's prices are still lower than they were two years ago.
Every SSD here can be used in a PC, but only the best SSDs for PS5 meet Sony's requirements (a storage minimum of 250GB with a sequential read speed of 5,500MB/s). The PS5-compatible XPG 4TB Gammix ST70 Blade is showing the lowest price we've ever seen since its launch with 23% off. The 1TB Samsung 990 Pro (with a heatsink), also PS5-compatible, is down 46% to its lowest price of the year.
SSDs that won't work with the PS5 can still be reliable high performers for PCs. The Western Digital 2TB WD Blue, with its lowest price of the year at 29% off, comes highly recommended.
Sony's PS5 consoles require an SSD with the M.2 design, the most common of which is the M.2 2280 design. The SSD must also have a minimum of 256GB storage and 5,500MB/s sequential read speeds. You can buy PS5-compatible SSDs that don't come with a heatsink, but we'd recommend you separately purchase a heatsink to reduce stress and damage from excessive heat.
