Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's relationship has always been the talk of the town since they got married. It has been over four decades since they are married. But there have been times when the couple grabbed headlines for some controversial reasons. During the 70s and 80s, Big B used to be in the news for alleged affairs. Even though the actor always denied it, the rumours didn't stop.
As reported by Scroll, when journalist Karan Thapar went to interview Amitabh Bachchan in 1992 at his Pratiksha bungalow, he witnessed something unexpected. During the interview, Karan asked Big B about his alleged love affairs. The Sholay star said that he never had an affair. When asked if he had an affair with Parveen Babi or Rekha, the actor again denied anything like this.
Journalist Karan Thapar then asked Jaya Bachchan, who was sitting next to Big B, if she believed him. The Guddi star said, "I always believe my husband." When the journalist asked if she really believes him or if she's saying only because he's sitting next to her. To this, Jaya answered, "Of course I mean it. Why should I not?" After the interview, the Bachchans asked Karan and his team to stay for lunch. That's when things went wrong.
Karan witnessed how Amitabh Bachchan yelled at Jaya Bachchan for not serving rotis. Jaya Bachchan had served him rice as the rotis hadn't come to the table. To this, Big B responded even with more anger, "Stop it. Just stop it. I've said I don't want rice and I'm happy to wait for the rotis. Can't you understand that? What's the matter with you? Why can't you just listen to what I'm saying?" In his book Devil's Advocate: The Untold Story, the journalist mentioned that Jaya went inside and never came out. Eventually, the rotis were brought to the table and Big B started eating. Karan mentioned how he and his team lost their appetite.
In the same book, the journalist mentioned that he received a call from Amar Singh to ask him to drop questions he asked the megastar. Karan made the interview live without the questions.
