Ranbir Kapoor's 2023 film Animal has been one of the most talked-about movies of the year. The action thriller has sparked a wide range of opinions from both audiences and critics. Even though it has been almost 9 months since the film hit theatres, discussions about it continue. While some people have praised the movie, several celebrities and netizens have criticised it. Recently, Kangana Ranaut also voiced her disapproval of the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Kangana Ranaut expressed her concerns about the film, questioning the kind of content it promotes. She pointed out that, despite the film causing a stir at the box office, it seemed to celebrate patriarchal themes. Kangana questioned why audiences applaud scenes depicting men wielding axes and engaging in senseless violence, devoid of consequences or regard for law and order. The actress mentioned that the film depicts men carrying machine guns, and this kind of portrayal is problematic. There are no consequences to their actions.
The Queen movie actress further criticised Animal by saying that it portrays a society where there is no law and order, with piles of dead bodies shown for no reason. Ranaut added that the film seems to glorify irresponsible behaviour, like using drugs, and attracts audiences who enjoy such content. "Bas masti main hai. Drugs karke mast hain," said the actress.
According to her, such a portrayal is a concerning issue, and such films should be discouraged and slammed. Kangana also urged the media to promote the consequences of such characters and criticise filmmakers. Well, it looks like the entertainment news world is going to get heated again with Ranaut's statement slamming Ranbir Kapoor's Animal.
Along with Ranbir, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri. They have already announced a sequel to the movie, Animal Park. On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut is busy with promotions for her upcoming political drama, Emergency. The actress portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in it. Also starring Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and Mahima Chaudhry, the film is slated to hit theatres on September 6, 2024.
