Ever since Border 2 was announced, the audience wants to know who will be cast in it. The only actor confirmed to be a part of the film is Sunny Deol. The film is a sequel to 1997 war film Border. Directed by JP Dutta, the first film had an ensemble cast: Sunny, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna and several others. Nidhi Dutta, Dutta's daughter, is in charge of writing the sequel's story. Earlier, there were reports that Ayushmann Khurrana will be a part of the sequel. However, the latest update states that the actor has rejected the role.

As reported by Mid Day, the team has been in talks with Ayushmann Khurrana for Border 2 for a few months. The Vicky Donor star was being cast as a soldier in the Sunny Deol starrer. The actor was keen to be a part of the film. However, he later felt unsure about his positioning in the ensemble cast.
Recently, there were reports that Diljit Dosanjh is also cast in Border 2. So far, there is no confirmation by the movie or the actor's team. About the same, a source told the tabloid that so far, nothing has been finalised. Seeing Diljit and Sunny on screen will be a treat, as they have a huge fan base in North India. The report also mentions that the film is expected to go on the floor this November.
So far, neither Ayushmann Khurrana nor Sunny Deol nor the production house have shared any updates on the casting or its changes. However, in an interview with BollywoodLife, Nidhi Dutta mentioned that the story for the sequel is based on real-life soldiers, just like the first part. Anurag Singh is the director of Border 2, and it will probably hit theaters in 2026.
The news of the Andhadhun actor rejecting Border 2 comes days after he bows out of Meghna Gulzar's next. Reportedly titled Daayra, the actor was supposed to star alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan in the same. Ayushmann actor was last seen in the movie Dream Girl 2. It was a sequel to his 2019 film, Dream Girl. The actor's next projects include a comedy film with Karan Johar and Guneet Monga and Vampires of Vijay Nagar with Maddock Films.
