Some movies are classic, and one cannot imagine them being remade at all. One such movie is Mughal-e-Azam. Directed by K Asif, the 1960 movie stars Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Madhubala in the lead roles. One cannot imagine anyone else playing the characters of Emperor Akbar, Salim, and Anarkali on screen except for these three actors. However, someone had an idea to remake the iconic movie with the Bachchan family: Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Abhishek Bachchan.

In an interview, filmmaker Mehul Kumar revealed that a South producer had an idea to remake Mughal-e-Azam and cast the Bachchan family as the main characters. The South producer imagined Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Anarkali, Amitabh Bachchan as Emperor Akbar, Jaya Bachchan as Jodha Bai, and Abhishek Bachchan as Salim.
When Mehul asked the producer if they had talked to Amitabh Bachchan about it, he was told that the actor had advised them to speak to Mehul first. In an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Mehul disclosed that he conveyed to the South producer the impossibility of remaking Mughal-e-Azam due to potential comparisons with the original historical film. The producer then relayed Mehul's message to Amit Ji, who agreed with Mehul's opinion.
Meanwhile, the Bachchans have been in the news a lot lately. Recently, the family members attended Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding ceremony. Big B, Jaya, Abhishek, Shweta, and others all entered and posed for the cameras together. However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan arrived separately with her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. It led to speculation that things had shaken up a bit in the Bachchan family.
Later, Abhishek Bachchan liked a divorce-related Instagram post, leaving netizens perplexed as to whether the couple was divorcing. So far, neither of them has given any reaction to these rumours. On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Kalki 2898 AD, which has earned quite well at the box office. The film also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's last theatrical release was PS 2. Abhishek Bachchan last appeared on screen in 2023 in R Balki's Ghoomer.
