MLB news roundup
Good morning A’s fans, and happy Thursday!
We got another double header today as both Championship Series continue on. First up we start in the American League as the Cleveland Guardians and New York Yankees shift their series to the Midwest where the Guardians will play host for Game 3. The Guardians are in big trouble heading into this one, having lost both Games 1 & 2. They can not afford to fall to 0-3 in the series because it might as well be over at that point, and don’t mention the ‘04 Red Sox. On the plus side for the Guardians they’re back home in front of their fans so hopefully they can snag a win in today’s contest to keep the series interesting. They’ll be relying on lefty Matthew Boyd for a quality start that keeps the Yankees in check. Boyd has been what Cleveland needed down the stretch and in the playoffs but tonight’s contest will be determinative. The lefty will be going up against Yankees righty Clarke Schmidt, who will be making his second postseason appearance this year. First pitch will be at 2:08 P.M.
We saw the Los Angeles Dodgers throttle the Mets in last night’s Game 3 and taking a 2-1 series lead. Should the Dodgers win tonight they’d be in position to punch their ticket to the Fall Classic as early as Saturday at home in front of their fans, something every team would want to give to its supporters. The Mets have their backs against the wall but they can still even the series back up with a W today. They have left-hander Jose Quintana on the mound for them and he’s been successful at Citi Field here in 2024. He’ll be going up against Los Angeles’ $300MM arm in Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Runs may be at a premium in this one. First pitch is set for 5:08 P.M.
For those lucky enough to get to watch both games today, enjoy it you lucky people! And to everyone else have a splendid Thursday.

I can't even fathom what it would look/feel like if the Rays played temporarily at the Oakland Coliseum.

And I don't want to even hint that it's a possibility... travel schedules & time zones would be huge complications.
However: it's not like there's many other "ready to go"…
