Wilson comes in at 44th, with Luis Morales falling down to 93
It was an unquestionably sparkling start for Jacob Wilson to his 2024 season, and he opened eyes for many evaluators around baseball. Wilson dominated at Double-A Midland, hitting .455 with 16 extra base hits in 22 games, earning himself a quick pull up to Triple-A. Wilson had some success in Vegas going 9-24 at the plate, but unfortunately hit the injured list on May 18th and has yet to come back to the team. Still, his work this season has improved his evaluation in the eyes of most, and Baseball America bumped him up to 44th overall in their June Top 100 update.

Wilson was not the only Oakland Athletics prospect to land inside the top 100 for Baseball America, with pitcher Luis Morales sliding in at 93rd. This represents quite a dip for Morales who started the season at number 79, but given his form early this season it’s not hard to see why. Morales has struggled since coming back from an injury-delayed start to the year, but the raw stuff is still fantastic and he has shown signs of promise like an eight strikeout start on May 23rd. Morales’s fastball is still sitting around 97 and all of his pitches are sharp, he is just working his way back into his feel on the mound and should hopefully see his arrow start moving up in the near future.
