The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is ready to assist in the process of releasing hostages held in the Gaza Strip. The committee's press service told Izvestia.
"The ICRC is ready to facilitate the humanitarian aspects of any agreement between the parties in its role as a neutral mediator. Acting in this role, the ICRC helped free two hostages on October 20, 2023 and two more on October 24, 2023," the organization's spokesman Christian Cardon told Izvestia.
The committee added that in late November 2023, during a seven-day agreement, the Red Cross facilitated the release of another 105 detainees at the end of November 2023.
"The ICRC continues to call for the immediate release, humane treatment, access and contact with families for all hostages held in Gaza," the organization said.
Earlier, a Hamas source confirmed to Izvestia that most of the problems in the negotiations have already been agreed upon. At the same time, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that controversial issues remain.
