YEREVAN, August 26. /ARKA/.The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently received numerous reports from citizens who, despite obtaining Schengen visas from various European embassies, have been denied entry upon arrival in those countries. These individuals have subsequently had to return to Armenia./pp
Upon investigating the issue in cooperation with Armenian embassies and the relevant authorities of the respective countries, the Foreign Ministry discovered that some citizens indicate a specific purpose of travel in their visa application forms and accompanying documents. However, after receiving the visa, they change or cancel their travel plans, such as their destination, itinerary, or hotel reservations./pp
This change in the purpose of the visit gives the authorities grounds to deny entry, as it is considered a discrepancy between the stated and actual purpose or conditions of the visit, the Foreign Ministry stated, reminding that holding a Schengen visa does not guarantee an unconditional right to enter the Schengen Area./pp
The Ministry also highlighted that during passport control, additional documents may be requested to substantiate the purpose of the visit, and checks may be made on the availability of sufficient funds, valid hotel reservations, confirmed return tickets, and information on potential visits to other countries./pp
These verification measures are more common in countries where migration risks are assessed as high, the Foreign Ministry noted./pp
The Ministry emphasized the following points for Armenian citizens:/pul li p
It is essential to apply for a visa at the embassy of the Schengen country you plan to visit, or if visiting multiple countries, at the embassy of the main destination (where you will spend the most time). /p /li li p
Any inconsistency or subsequent unjustified change in the purpose of the visit, destination, dates, or other conditions after obtaining a Schengen visa may result in denial of entry and the cancellation of the visa, either at the border or before departure. /p /li li p
Armenian citizens planning to travel abroad are urged to thoroughly research the migration rules of the destination country, carefully assess the risks of non-compliance, and be aware of potential negative consequences. /p /li li p
To obtain reliable information, the Ministry recommends using only official sources, such as its website and the websites of the embassies, migration services, and other authorities. /p /li/ulp br/p
