YEREVAN, August 22. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has designated the territory of Armenfilm and several land plots in Yerevan's 17th Quarter as areas of public priority, paving the way for the construction of a new Academic Campus./pp
The government's decision empowers the governor of the Aragatsotn region and the mayor of Yerevan to oversee the process of expropriating the necessary properties for state use./pp
The 17th Quarter has been identified as the primary site for the campus, which will involve the acquisition of various types of land, including agricultural, industrial, and energy zones, as well as properties owned by both public and private entities./pp
The concept for the Academic Campus, which aims to centralize all universities and research institutes in Armenia, is being developed by the German company gmp International GmbH Architects and Engineers. The plan was presented in April 2024./pp
The main construction site will be in Yerevan's 17th Quarter, extending northwest of the city and including areas in the village of Sasunik in the Aragatsotn region, as well as lands along the Ashtarak highway. The campus will also incorporate the Armenfilm studio grounds./pp
The campus is expected to host up to 16 universities, including 8 state and 8 private or international institutions. Design work is set to begin this year, with phased construction starting in 2025. The first students are anticipated to begin their studies on the new campus by 2030./pp img width=669 alt=2222.jpeg src=/upload/medialibrary/1c0/1c05a9e7de5e62578296bb7cbc950b76.jpeg height=452 title=2222.jpegbr/pp br/p
