YEREVAN, July 22. /ARKA/. The Yerevan municipality has submitted six proposals to the capital's water supply and sewerage operator, Veolia Jur, for a contract revision, Kamo Areyan, an advisor to the mayor, announced on Monday./pp
The need for contract revision was highlighted during a meeting with the deputy prime minister, who instructed all parties, including the municipality, to present their proposals, Areyan stated during a Monday meeting./pp
Areyan mentioned that the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) responded positively to the municipality's suggestion to revise the contract with Veolia Jur. Our six-point proposal has been sent, and we are awaiting discussions with the PSRC, he added./pp
He also noted that the meeting with the deputy prime minister covered the entire agenda related to capital investments in Yerevan./pp
The municipality raised all relevant issues, particularly concerning the drinking water supply, volumes and losses, pressure maintenance, and water supply schedules. Additionally, urgent problems within the water isolation system, stormwater drainage issues, and necessary capital expenditures for the city were discussed, Areyan emphasized./pp
Mayor Tigran Avinyan highlighted the importance of periodically revisiting this issue as updates from the government become available./pp
Over the past three months, heavy rainfalls in Yerevan have caused significant problems in transportation hubs and tunnels. Streets, underground passages, basements of residential and industrial buildings, metro stations, and other structures were flooded, hindering vehicle and pedestrian movement./pp
The Yerevan municipality attributed these issues not only to the unprecedented rainfall but also to the insufficient capacity of the city's stormwater drainage system and the low quality of maintenance services, provided by Veolia Jur.nbsp;/pp
Veolia Jur (a subsidiary of the French company Veolia Generale des Eaux) is the sole water supply and sewerage operator in Yerevan and several regions of Armenia./p br br
