Meghan Markle's ex-boyfriend's mum has come to her defence
Meghan Markle has faced an endless stream of online bullying since becoming a royal, with the shocking level of abuse attacking everything from her family and race to her body and parenting.
‘I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces’, Prince Harry announced last month, as the couple pursued legal action against the tabloids that had ‘bullied’ the former Suits actress.
‘There comes a point when the only thing to do is to stand up to this behaviour, because it destroys people and destroys lives. Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level. We won’t and can’t live in a world where there is no accountability for this.’
Meghan’s treatment has divided the public, with high profile names from Hillary Clinton and Jameela Jamil to female MPs from all parties, standing up for the Duchess.

The latest person to add their voice to the crowd was Meghan’s ex boyfriend’s mum, Joanne Vitiello.
Joanne, the mother of Meghan’s former boyfriend of two years, celebrity chef Cory Vitiello, voiced her shock at the bullying, calling it ‘sad’ to see.
‘It’s about time!’ Joanne posted in a now deleted tweet in response to the open letter of support by female MPs. ‘So sad and shocking to see there is so much jealous, hostility and bullying directed her way.’
And Joanne wasn’t the only person to react to the female MPs letter, with Meghan’s BFF and former stylist, Jessica Mulroney, sharing the letter on Twitter, captioning the upload: ‘This is what I’m talking about’.
Meghan has not yet publicly responded to the letter but it is thought that she rang the MPs to thank them for their support.
