An Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe-winning actress, Katherine Helmond passes away at the age of 89. She played altogether two different matriarchs on the ABC sitcoms Who's the Boss? along with Soap.
According to talent agency APA, Katherine passed away because of the complexities from Alzheimer's infection last Saturday at her home in Los Angeles. She belonged to Galveston, Texas and her credits date back to the 1950s. She worked consistently in little jobs as the decades progressed. However, her stardom and all seven of her Emmy nominations didn't begin until she was about 50. She was likely best known for playing Mona Robinson, Judith Light's mom on Who's the Boss? which likewise featured Tony Danza and young Alyssa Milano. She won a best supporting Golden Globe for her work in 1989.
Katherine Helmond has passed away.
My beautiful, kind, funny, gracious, compassionate, rock. You were an instrumental part of my life. You taught me to hold my head above the marsh! You taught me to do anything for a laugh! What an example you were!

RIP Katherine Helmond. Here’s to the 1977 photo shoot she did with her husband, David Christian, for the late great magazine After Dark. Hat tip to my husband, Dustin Schell. pic.twitter.com/xdE4zLhbjS
