Wrestling in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association had its first state tournament in 1964 and took only four meets before Newport Catholic won a state title in 1967 to bring back to Northern Kentucky. As the seasons moved on, Northern Kentucky teams continued to win individual and team state championships at an impressive pace.
