Eddie Griffin Defends Bill Cosby From ‘Systematic Effort to Destroy’ TV Icon’s Image

Eddie Griffin has come to the defense of embattled comedian Bill Cosby.

Griffin compared Cosby to Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant, and Michael Jordan, who all faced court cases at one time or another, using them as evidence of a conspiracy against black celebrities.

“There is a systematic effort to destroy every black male entertainer’s image,” Griffin said in an interview with DJ Vlad. “Nobody leaves this business clean…You’re not going to die clean.”

Cosby has been accused of drugging and raping dozens of women going back to the 1960’s, but Griffin believes that Cosby, whom he refers to as “Dr. Cosby,” was a victim of his time.

“The ’70s is a different time, alright,” he said. “The ’70s motherf—ers all had coke spoons around they’re f—ing neck. You go to the disco, the line is laid out on the damn table. When you want to level out after a hit of cocaine you get a Quaalude.”

“So did he rape these bitches?” Griffin continued. “All of them said the same thing: We ‘went to the room.’ Why would you go the the room of a known married man?”

Griffin went on to point out Cosby’s numerous charitable efforts directed toward young African Americans as proof of his good nature.

“The man has single-handedly sent a bunch of brothers and sisters to college,” he said. “Even if he didn’t pay for it himself, he gave them the idea that it’s possible. The motherf—er was so generous with his money, he bought colleges colleges. And them some pussy is supposed to tear that down?”

Cosby was charged Wednesday with criminal sexual assault stemming from a purported incident in 2004 in Pennsylvania. The embattled ex-sitcom star and stand-up comedian was arraigned later on Wednesday and released on $1 million bail.
