More Trouble Looms As Thousands Of PDP Leaders And Supporters Defect To APC

Another wave of defection hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) again as some its leaders and supporters in Ondo state dumped them for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Nation reports that over 2,500 PDP members in the Idanre area of the state were yesterday, December 30, led by the member representing Ondo state at the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Oluremi Akinbobola and an ex-commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Akin Akingbesote (A&T) to join the APC.

Akinbobola said: “We want to ensure that we join hands with our leaders, in the local government and in Nigeria.

“The national vice chairman of APC is our brother in Idanre, so we have to join hands with him.

“So, we want to join hands with President Buhari to ensure a better Nigeria.”

On his part, Akingbesote said his defection was a fulfilment of his dreams and he promised to use his structures to work and win elections for the APC.

Those at the rally included; national vice chairman Pius Akinyelure; minister of  state for Niger Delta affairs Prof Cladius Daramola; former deputy governor Ali Olanusi, former Ekiti state House of Assembly speaker Adewale Omirin; state chairman Isaac Kekemeke; his deputy, Ade Adetimehin; Ifedayo Abegunde(Abena); Dr Tunji Abayomi and Prince Olu Adegboro.

Others present were some governorship aspirants, Jamiu Ekungba, Victor Olabimtan, Olusola Oke, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) and Segun Abraham.

The defectors were received by Akinyelure.

He advised them to continue to preach the gospel of the APC and the change agenda to the people and also be loyal to the party.

Members of the PDP have been dumping the party for APC for some time now. Two days ago, more than 5,000 members of the Akwa Ibom state chapter of the PDP defected to the APC in Obot Akara local government area.

Also, more than 370,000 members of the PDP defected to the APC in Jigawa state.
