It did not use to be an established tradition among the Maltese people, however, with the passing of time, the pantomime ended up being a ‘must’ for many of us when Christmas approaches.
It may be described as a theatrical entertainment involving music, topical jokes, slapstick comedy with generally good natured jibes, tongue-in-cheek expressions and intriguing situations. In Britain, where the panto was born and bred, audiences scream out “He’s behind you” to warn the ‘hero’ whenever the ‘villain’ appears.
