HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’ Casts Hong Chau (Exclusive)

“Inherent Vice” actress Hong Chau has been cast in a supporting role on HBO’s limited series adaptation of “Big Little Lies,” TheWrap has learned exclusively.

David E. Kelley wrote the script, which follows three mothers of kindergarteners whose seemingly perfect lives unravel to the point of murder. Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Shailene Woodley are set for the three lead roles.

Chau will play the role of Jackie, one of the other mothers at the school.

Jean-Marc Vallee is directing all the episodes. Filming begins in January.

Witherspoon and Kidman are executive producing “Big Little Lies” under their respective production companies, Pacific Standard (with Bruna Papandrea) and Blossom Films (with Per Saari). Kelley also serves as an executive producer, while author Moriarty is also involved on the producing side along with Vallee’s frequent collaborator Nathan Ross.

Chau, who played Jade in Paul Thomas Anderson‘s “Inherent Vice” opposite Joaquin Phoenix, was also a series regular on NBC’s sitcom “A to Z” and spent the summer starring in Annie Baker’s new play “John.” She is represented by Silver Lining Entertainment.
