The name Prem is synonymous with Salman Khan. The superstar has played characters with this name in several movies, especially for Sooraj Barjatya. From Hum Saath Saath Hai to Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Salman has been an integral part of Barjatya's cinematic world. Well, it looks like the duo has moved on from this as report suggest that the filmmaker has found another actor to take the mantle ahead!
Sooraj Barjatya has found his new Prem in actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The filmmaker has reportedly signed the actor for his next film. About the same, a source told entertainment news portal Pinkvilla that Sooraj wanted to cast an actor who is known amongst the family audience and Ayushmann was the apt choice. He will play the new-age Prem on the big screen now. The duo met and the actor is impressed with what Barjatya wants to create next. "Sooraj ji, on the other hand, feels that Ayushmann has the innocence and charm in him to play Prem," informed the source.
The untitled movie is all set to go on floors in Summer 2025. The team is looking for a top actress to play the female lead opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. "On having the lead pair in place, Sooraj Barjatya will proceed towards casting the big ensemble for his next directorial. Much like all previous films, this one too will be a star-cast heavy film, though led by Ayushmann Khurrana and the female protagonist," the source added. The movie is slated to hit theatres in 2026. It would be interesting to see how the audience reacts, after seeing Salman Khan play the Prem in Barjatya's universe for so many years!
Meanwhile, Ayushmann has also joined Maddock's Horror Comedy Universe with the film Thama. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the actor will play a vampire in the film, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna.
