Popular actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is grabbing eyeballs with his recent concert in Indore. The handsome Punjabi munda paid tribute to Urdu poet Rahat Indori and dedicated the performance to him. Rahat Indori is a revered figure in the city who passed away in August 2022. Interestingly, Diljit made a strong statement amid Bajrang Dal's protest against the singer in Indore.
Diljit Dosanjh recited Indori's iconic ghazal 'Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai' during his event. He also said, 'Agar khilaaf hain hone do, Jaan thodi hai. Ye sab dhua hai asmaan thodi hai. Sabhi ka khoon hai shaamil yahan ki mitti mein/ Kisi ke baap ka Hindustan thodi hai'. Diljit's statements connected with the audience.
Well, the members of the Bajrang Dal had protested against Diljit's concert and accused him of making anti-national remarks during the farmers' protests. They even accused the singer of alleging his support for Khalistan. Bajrang Dal leader Avinash Kaushal said, 'Diljit has made anti-national remarks several times during the farmers' protest. He is also a supporter of Khalistan. We will not allow such a person to hold an event in the city of Maa Ahilya. We have submitted an application to the administration demanding the cancellation of the show. If the event still takes place, we will protest in our own way'.
Tannu Sharma, another leader of the group said, 'Our protest isn't against the concert itself but against drug and alcohol consumption associated with such events. It's against our culture.'
Amid the controversy, various strict measures were enforced at the concert. No meat or alcohol was served in the concert and there was high security. Meanwhile, Indore's Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the cops are taking public safety, women's security, and drug abuse seriously.
