There's shocking news for all the Anupamaa fans. Actor Gaurav Khanna, who played beloved Anuj Kapadia, has quit the show. The actor was paired opposite Rupali Ganguly, who plays the titular role in the Star Plus series. The show took a 15-year time leap in October and several characters were not a part of the storyline anymore. Fans thought that Gaurav's Anuj would be there, as he is a key character in Anu's life. But after being away for two months from the sets, the actor has finally confirmed the big news.
In an interview with Etimes, Gaurav Khanna said that people have been asking when he's returning on Anupamaa. A discussion on his grand re-entry was also discussed with Rajan Shahi. However, after two months, things didn't materialise. The actor stated that the storyline had to progress and waiting any longer than two months didn't make sense. Rajan told the actor to explore something bigger. So for now, Anuj's chapter is closed for Gaurav. But he sees it as a comma and not a fullstop. The actor is willing to return if the story and his schedule demand.
Further in this entertainment news, Gaurav Khanna was asked about the rumours that he had a fallout with his co-star Rupali Ganguli. The actor said that he doesn't engage in retaliatory interviews or react to such rumours. "What matters is the work we've created together. I've always focused on my craft, and what happens beyond the 'action' and 'cut' is secondary," said the Anupamaa star.
Gaurav Khanna expressed his gratitude towards his fans for loving his character Anuj Kapadia. Khanna revealed that initially, Anuj was just a guest and had a three-month cameo. But the love was so much, it became a defining path of his career and he stayed in the show for three years. "That kind of love is rare, and I can't thank my fans enough for it," stated Gaurav.
Some other actors who quit the show in the past are Sudhanshu Pandey, Madalsa Sharma, Paras Kalnawat and Nidhi Shah.
