Kia India has officially unveiled the first teaser for its upcoming compact SUV, the Syros. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to solidify its presence in the Indian SUV segment under its “Kia 2.0” plan. Positioned between the Kia Sonet and Seltos, the Syros is expected to bring a blend of advanced technology, bold design, and enhanced practicality to cater to India’s growing appetite for SUVs.
The teaser hints at a distinctive boxy design for the Syros, characterized by a bold front profile, a floating roof effect created by black elements on the C-pillar, and flush-mounted door handles. L-shaped LED taillights adorn the rear, while vertical LED DRLs give the front an aggressive appearance. Roof rails and a thick B-pillar further accentuate the SUV’s rugged yet modern design
Inside, the Syros is anticipated to host a tech-forward cabin with dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, reminiscent of Kia’s other premium models like the Seltos. It is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, and advanced climate control. Premium touches such as a Bose sound system, selectable drive modes, and powered front seats are likely to enhance the overall user experience. Advanced safety features, including six airbags, ADAS, and a 360-degree camera, are also rumored to be part of the package
Kia is expected to offer the Syros with multiple powertrains – petrol, diesel, and electric too. Initial models are likely to include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. Additionally, an all-electric variant is reportedly in the pipeline, further emphasizing Kia’s commitment to electrification
The Syros represents Kia’s ambition to capture a 10% market share in India by offering innovative and accessible vehicles tailored to the preferences of Indian consumers. Its positioning in the competitive compact SUV space aims to challenge established players while leveraging Kia’s reputation for reliability and design
Kia plans to launch the Syros in early 2025, with the fully electric variant likely to follow later in the year. More details, including pricing, are expected closer to the official launch. The Syros underscores Kia’s forward-looking strategy in India, blending cutting-edge technology with bold aesthetics to appeal to a wide range of customers.
