AR Rahman and Saira Banu's divorce has shocked their fans. On Tuesday, it was reported that the couple has officially separated after being married for 29 years. A few hours before their divorce was announced, Rahman's bassist, Mohini Dey, who has worked with him on many shows, also announced her divorce. Since then, netizens have been speculating if there is any link between these two divorces.
Now, AR Rahman and Saira Banu's lawyer, Vandana Shah, have reacted to these speculations on possible connections. Vandana dismissed that there's any connection between these two separations or divorces. She told Republic TV that Saira and Rahman made the decision of getting separated all by themselves.
Further in this entertainment news, when asked about the financial matters related to the separation, the lawyer stated that it is not revealed yet. She told the channel, "It has not come to this stage yet. It would be an amicable divorce. Both of them are extremely genuine, and this decision was not taken lightly. It is not what you would call a sham marriage."
AR Rahman took to his social media to confirm his separation with Saira Banu. The music composer wrote, "We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter."
On the other hand, Mohini Dey also announced her separation with Mark Hartsuch in a joint statement. It reads, "With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life, and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed."
