‘The Leftovers’ Renewed for Third and Final Season on HBO

HBO has ordered a third and final season of Damon Lindelof‘s “The Leftovers,” the network announced Thursday.

The Justin Theroux-led drama just wrapped up Season 2 on Sunday night.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome back Damon Lindelof, Tom Perrotta and the extraordinary talent behind ‘The Leftovers’ for its third and final season,” said HBO programming chief Michael Lombardo in a statement. “This show has proven to be one of the most distinctive HBO series and we are extremely proud of its unrivaled originality, which has resulted in such a passionate following by our HBO viewers. We admire and fully support Damon’s artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season.”

The second season saw the return of Theroux and original Season 1 stars Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Margaret Qualley, Chris Zylka, Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jovan Adepo and Janel Moloney.

The series is created by Lindelof (“Lost”) and Tom Perrotta, who executive produce with Mimi Leder, Tom Spezialy and Peter Berg. Jacqueline Hoyt, Gene Kelly, Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger serve as co-EPs. It is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television.
