Two young animators from Armenia will undergo training at Angouleme (France) animation school (EMCA - Ecole des Metiers du Cinema d'Animation). The scholarships were provided by the French Embassy in Armenia. Vrej Kassouny, Founder, Director at ReAnimania International Animation Film Festival of Yerevan, told a news conference today on December 10, 2015 young talented animators at the age of 18-26, citizens of Armenia, were encouraged to apply for the scholarships from October 9 to the 25th inclusive.
A total of 8 applications were received and sent to EMCA. The winners were Levon Baghdasaryan and Shushanik Yesayan.
The young boy will get an opportunity to undergo in January 2016, a one month training at Angouleme's animation school. The course will be taught within the framework of traditional 2D animation, CG 2D, 3D, stop motion, cut animation and other animation skills. The participants from Armenia will join a group of young animators to create a 1-minute animated film. The course instructors overlook the students work, the student can work independently or join a team at their own discretion.
Shushanik Yesayan, in turn, will have a one and a half month in May and June 2016, to attend the training in Angouleme animation school. The course will be taught within the framework of traditional 2D animation.
Kassouny said ReAnimania" International Animation Film and Comics Art Festival of Yerevan collaborate with "KASSart Production" and Angouleme (France) animation school (EMCA - Ecole des Metiers du Cinema d'Animation) and with support of the French Embassy in ARMENIA have established the 2 scholarships.
French Embassy Cultural Attache Mrs. Natalia Tsagris, in turn, said the embassy will continue cooperating with ReAnimania festival. "This cooperation helps establishing contacts between Armenian and French directors, producers and distributors," she said.
