As per several entertainment news portals, Amitabh Bachchan helped Rajinikanth get a pivotal role in the 1983 Hindi movie Andhaa Kaanoon. The Tamil superstar revealed that the makers initially wanted Mithun Chakraborty to play the part. ". Kamal Haasan had just made a mark there with the success of Ek Duuje Ke Liye (1981). So, Amitji suggested my name and promised to do the guest role if they cast me. That's how I landed that role. Then we did Geraftaar, in which I played a cameo role, and Hum. All three became big hits," revealed Thalaivar.
At the event, the megastar praised his Vettaiyan co-star's professionalism. Rajinikanth revealed how some Hindi stars come at 11-11:30 am for shoots. However, Big B would go for dubbing at 7 am, finish it by 8 am and then come to the movie set at 9 am with full makeup. Rajinikanth was impressed by Amitabh's punctuality and discipline. He also revealed how Mr Bachchan would ask several questions to the writer and director in detail to understand his character better.
"Once convinced, he would go back to his corner, jot down a few things and then ask the makers if he could tweak a particular word to ensure smoother delivery and flow," revealed the megastar. Rajinikanth believes that as Amitabh's father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, was a renowned Hindi poet and writer, the actor has a strong command of language and his suggestions have always been clear.
Coming to Vettaiyan, it will hit theatres on October 10, 2024. This year, Amitabh made his Telugu debut with the movie Kalki 2898 AD, which also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan.
