YEREVAN, 11 September. /ARKA/. Azerbaijan is trying to stall the process of signing a peace treaty with Armenia by using the narrative of the Armenian Constitution to leave open the territorial claims to Armenia existing in the Azerbaijani Constitution, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said today, citing independent Armenian experts./pp 'There are no territorial claims to Azerbaijan in the text of the Armenian Constitution. We have no territorial claims to Azerbaijan,’ he said during a government question-and-answer session in Parliament./pp
Pashinyan had said on 19 January that Armenia needs a new Constitution, which will make the country more competitive and viable in the new geopolitical conditions./pp
On 1 February, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that peace between the two countries can be achieved if Armenia drops its territorial claims against Azerbaijan and amends its Constitution and other legal documents./pp
According to him, Armenia's Declaration of Independence contains direct calls for the unification of Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia and violation of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, and references to this document are also reflected in the Armenian Constitution. -0-/pp nbsp;/pp nbsp;/p
