YEREVAN, 10 September. /ARKA/. The Armenian National Assembly today approved in the first reading a package of amendments to the Labour Code, which restrict the rights of employees dismissed by the employer with violations of the law./pp
According to the current legislation, if the court decides that an employee was dismissed with violations, the average salary for the entire period of forced idle time is recovered from the employer in favour of the employee./pp
The proposed amendments change this point and now, if the dismissed employee has found a new job, he will be compensated only in the amount of his salary for the last 9 months./pp
According to MP from the opposition Hayastan (Armenia) alliance Tadevos Avetisyan, the amendments violate the balance of labour relations, as the consideration of cases in court may drag on for several years, and it turns out that according to these amendments the employee will not receive compensation for the period when his or her rights were violated./pp
At the same time Avetisyan stated that the real purpose of the amendments is to save money on payments to illegally dismissed state employees.nbsp;nbsp;/pp
In her turn, Eriknaz Tigranian, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party, said that due to the amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code, labour disputes should be considered within 3 months, while the period of 9 months is defined as the average time of the period of consideration of court disputes.-0-/pp nbsp;/p
