YEREVAN, 9 September. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received today an EU delegation led by European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas, the government press service reported.br/pp
It quoted Pashinyan as saying that Schinas' visit is expected to contribute to the discussion of the Armenia-EU co-operation agenda and further development of the partnership. Pashinyan emphasised that this is an important moment for EU-Armenia relations./pp ‘I am glad that there are notable advances in our relations: negotiations on visa liberalisation are starting, a decision has been made to support Armenia through the European Peace Facility, which we highly appreciate,’ he said./pp
According to Pashinyan, Armenia is expanding the agenda with the European Union. The prime minister added that after his speech in the European Parliament last year, discussions are taking place in the country on the possibility of starting the process of Armenia's accession to the EU./pp ‘This is not an easy issue, but it has become part of Armenia's political agenda, so this topic should be approached in detail and comprehensively. It is important to listen to the observations and advice of our EU partners,’ the prime minister said./pp
Schinas emphasised the interest of the European Union to develop relations with Armenia and promote its reforms./pp
At the same time, he expressed hope for effective cooperation with the Armenian government in the dialogue on the liberalization of visa regime./pp
The interlocutors also discussed ia set of ssues related to the implementation of the agreements reached at the high-level meeting held in Brussels on 5 April this year with the participation of the Armenian Prime Minister, President of the European Commission and US Secretary of State./pp
