Arms Purchase Scandal: EFCC Trace N650m To Thisday Publisher
As part of the ongoing investigations into how the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) shared funds meant for fighting Boko Haram, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigators have detected another line of payment made to companies linked with Nduka Obaigbena, owner of Arise TV and Thisday publisher.
Obaigbena said that he did not receive any money from the former NSA
According to Sahara Reporters, the investigators said Obaigbena received at least N650m from Dasuki for questionable transactions.
EFCC sources alleged that Obaigbena, who is also the Chairman of the Newspaper Proprietors Association Of Nigeria (NPAN), has dropped out of sight since the discovery and all attempts at reaching him have proved abortive.
The ThisDay publisher, who spoke to Sahara Reporters said he is in New York. He also said that prior to his trip to New York, he had been at meetings in London, and will return to to the country when he is done with his visit.

He admitted that his newspaper company received a letter from the anti graft commission and that a response had been sent to explain what they know concerning the case involving Raymond Dokpesi’s Daar Communications.
Obaigbena added that he did not receive any money from the former NSA, a point which EFCC investigators strongly dispute.
Dokpesi was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, December 1, for being a party of the arms purchase scandal involving the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, and the theft of N2.1billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
However he and his family have offered conflicting statements about why he received the money from Dasuki.
