‘Tax on essential commodities unreasonable’
While welcoming the proposal of levy of about 18% standard tax rate under goods and services tax (GST) by committee headed by Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramaniam and also proposing to call off 1% tax on interstate transactions under the regime, Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has also criticized the panel for proposing multilevel taxes.
