Nicolò Cambiaghi has suffered a partial cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
The initial prognosis suggests he could face up to six months on the sidelines.
During Bologna’s opening league match against Udinese, Cambiaghi sustained the injury which now forces the club back into the transfer market to find a suitable replacement.
The club is awaiting the results of final examinations scheduled for Friday before making any further decisions.
“It’s a significant blow for us,” a source from the club told the press.
The source added, “We were hopeful for a positive start to the season, and losing Nicolò is certainly a setback, but we will explore transfer options to strengthen the squad.”
Bologna is now assessing potential candidates to mitigate the loss of their key player for the upcoming months.
