'Ex Machina' Wins Big At The British Independent Film Awards
Who says awards voters don't like sci-fi? While the British Independent Film Awards have pretty much zero bearing on the Oscars, perhaps 20th Century Fox can take heart with today's results that perhaps they'll have a good shot at some nods with Ridley Scott's "The Martian."

Alex Garland's "Ex Machina" walked away with four awards at the ceremony, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. Elsewhere, the love was definitely spread around, with "Brooklyn, "Legend," "The Lobster," "Suffragette," and "Room" all winning one award each. Obviously, with the focus is on British independent cinema, and the results skew in a certain direction, but damn, it's been a good year for movies across the pond.
