ArmInfo. On August 7, in Paris, the Olympic medalists in Greco- Roman wrestling in the 77 and 97 kg weight categories were announced in the evening program. In the final of the 97 kg weight category, Iranian wrestler Mohammadhadi Saravi and the legendary Armenian athlete Artur Aleksanyan met. In the fight for the gold medal, the Iranian Saravi won, using Aleksanyan's mistake and earning two key points.
The Armenian team tried to use the opportunity to appeal, but this did not bring results. In the end, Saravi won with a score of 4:1 and became the new Olympic champion.
Another member of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team, Malkhas Amoyan, won the bronze medal. Amoyan's opponent in the 77 kg weight category was Armenian wrestler Aram Vardanyan, representing Uzbekistan. Amoyan managed to win with a score of 6:5 and become the bronze medalist of Paris 2024. Today, another representative of the Armenian Greco-Roman wrestling team, Slavik Galstyan, will compete for the bronze medal.
