Ducati has unleashed its most potent Hypermotard yet, with the launch of the 950 SP in India. Priced at a premium of Rs. 3 lakh over its predecessor, the Hypermotard 950 RVE, the SP promises a more focused and performance-oriented riding experience.
Visually, the Hypermotard 950 SP shares the same aggressive stance as the RVE, but distinct SP graphics and forged Marchesini wheels set it apart. Under the skin, however, lies the heart of the upgrade: a comprehensive suspension overhaul. The SP swaps out the standard Marzocchi/Sachs setup for fully adjustable Öhlins components at both ends. This not only elevates the suspension’s performance but also increases front and rear wheel travel by 15mm each
To complement the upgraded suspension, the Ducati has fitted lighter Marchesini forged wheels, shedding 2kg from the overall weight. However, the Hypermotard 950 SP still tips the scales at a hefty 191kg dry, with the 14.5-liter fuel tank adding further weight.
The SP retains the familiar 937cc L-twin engine, delivering a potent 114hp and 96Nm of torque. While the engine remains unchanged, its aggressive tune and character perfectly complement the bike’s sporty nature. Ducati has also equipped the SP with stickier Pirelli Supercorsa SP tires, enhancing grip and cornering performance.
Despite the significant suspension and wheel upgrades, the chassis and braking system remain unchanged from the Hypermotard 950 RVE.
Positioned as the range-topper, the Hypermotard 950 SP commands a premium price of Rs. 19.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Ducati’s third most expensive model powered by the 937cc L-twin engine, surpassing even the adventure-oriented DesertX.
