Mahindra is set to launch the highly anticipated Thar Roxx, or the 5-door Thar, on August 15. The automaker has been steadily building anticipation with a series of teasers, and the latest offers a sneak peek into the vehicle’s interior.
The Thar Roxx introduces a more refined cabin compared to its predecessor. A beige color scheme for the seats and roof liner adds a touch of sophistication, though practicality might be a concern for off-road enthusiasts. The black dashboard, adorned with copper-colored stitching, complements the overall premium look.
A standout feature is the fully digital driver display, offering a wealth of information at the driver’s fingertips. This advanced cluster promises to enhance the driving experience with customizable views and intuitive controls.
The teaser also hints at a spacious interior with a panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, and the digital driver’s display, both likely measuring 10.25 inches. To further elevate the in-car experience, Mahindra has teased a Harman Kardon sound system and ventilated front seats.
Beyond the interior aesthetics and tech-focused features, the Thar Roxx is expected to be packed with modern amenities. A 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, keyless entry, cruise control, and a comprehensive safety suite including six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-ascent control, and front and rear parking sensors are likely to be included. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are also on the cards.
While specific details are awaited, the Thar Roxx is expected to be powered by either a 150 PS 2-liter turbo-petrol or a 132 PS 2.2-liter diesel engine, both likely with power upgrades. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations are anticipated.
The 5-door Mahindra Thar is set to compete with the Force Gurkha 5-door and offer a larger alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. With an estimated starting price of Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), the Thar Roxx aims to capture a wider audience while retaining the iconic Thar brand identity.
