The director claimed that a major Telugu superstar paid money from their own pocket for his film to continue to run at the box office after it failed to create a storm at the box office. Ram Gopal Varma told Galatta Plus that one particular hero, a corporate company from Bombay did a film with a big star in Telugu. The film did not do well at the box office at the theatres and the corporate company wanted to remove it. The star's fans felt that its an insult if it doesn't at least continue for this long a time. The hero called the corporate company head and said that he would use his own money but the film has to run it till this point in time. He even said that as long as he's spending the money, what would they lose? The same was not communicated to the distributor and the latter had stopped putting ads in the newspaper that it's playing in the theatres. Ram Gopal Verma continued saying that there is an extra cost and he's not being given that because it came into deficit, which is a rule that he is following. He said that the film is running and there's no ad and that's a very small amount of money. He continued saying that this completely turned off the heroes.
Post Ram's interview, netizens tried their level best to guess who he was talking about. One user commented, 'Ram Charan's Zanjeer?', while another said, 'I think it's Ram Charan'. The third user wrote, 'He is talking about Vijay Deverakonda and Dharma'.
Ram earlier made headlines for saying that filmmakers should stay away from the mythology genre. He shared his views on the current trend of making mythological films in India and said that the trend is dangerous. He even debated that mythological films were successful in the past and their chances of box office success today are slim.
He even said that corporate professionalism turns off the Telugu heroes and now these corporate companies do not produce the film, they just acquire it. He also said that he had never seen this in Bollywood.
