ArmInfo. Fraudsters, posing as representatives of the Armenian Red Cross Society, are calling citizens, particularly refugees from Artsakh. They are using the pretense of offering social assistance to obtain personal information from them. As Artur Hovhannisyan, the head of the press service of the Red Cross Society office said, various people pretending to offer assistance on behalf of their organization, are calling citizens and collecting personal and banking information from them.
He specifically cautioned those who had been displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh. "To protect yourself from hacker attacks, please avoid sharing personal and banking information with strangers," Hovhannisyan emphasized, while drawing attention to the fact that the Armenian Red Cross Society never requests personal and banking information with its beneficiaries over the phone.
At the end of last week, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of Armenia issued a statement calling on Artsakh residents to avoid giving their personal information to unknown individuals and to only trust official announcements from Armenian state authorities regarding the receipt of social assistance.
