Jose Mourinho is looking to pull off a major coup by luring Ilkay Gundogan away from Barcelona to his Fenerbahce side in Istanbul.
The tactician aims to bring the talented midfielder to Turkey just a year after he joined the Blaugrana on a free transfer from Manchester City.
“Bringing Gundogan to Istanbul could be a game-changer for us,” Mourinho stated confidently, as reported by Turkish sports daily, Fanatik.
Despite having recently settled into the Camp Nou, reports suggest that Gundogan might be open to new challenges.
Sources close to the player indicate he is flattered by Mourinho’s interest and the opportunity to play in the Super Lig.
Barcelona, however, may be reluctant to part with a player of Gundogan’s calibre so soon after acquiring him.
Mourinho’s pursuit of the German international remains to be seen, but it certainly has the football world buzzing with speculation.
