ArmInfo. The Yerevan Municipality Waste Sorting Department, in collaboration with the Hazardous Waste Management Yerevan-Warsaw-Tirana project ("Capital Cities Collaborating on Common Challenges in Hazardous Waste Management-Yerevan, Warsaw, Tirana") is launching the Ecoparsec Education environmental platform.
As reported by the press service of the "ECOPARSEC" NGO, training courses on general environmental topics will be available on this platform, including a course on waste sorting in Yerevan.
The platform intends to broaden the course offerings by engaging all organizations and individuals working in the environmental sector of Armenia.
To recall that back in April of last year, a working meeting on hazardous waste management was held at the Yerevan Municipality. The meeting was attended by representatives from Sweco International Ab (Sweco), the Department of Development and Investment Programs, the Department of Environmental Protection of the Yerevan Municipality, the NGO "Greening", as well as the working group for the implementation of the "Capital Cities Collaborating on Common Challenges in Hazardous Waste Management-Yerevan, Warsaw, Tirana" project.
According to the municipality's report, Sweco was appointed by the Asian Development Bank to support the Ministry of Environment in improving the hazardous waste management system in Armenia. In order to develop the system in technical, legal and other aspects and find a solution to the problem, Sweco was to remain in Armenia for 17 months to collect information, provide technical description of the storage and processing of hazardous waste and coordinate with stakeholders.
