The X Factor 2015: Lauren Murray’s previous music career with Timbaland collaborators La La Land uncovered
With only two live shows left in the series, it’s almost time for the latest winner of The X Factor to be crowned and to see if they can prove as successful at cracking the charts.
However, it has emerged that one of the favourites this year, Lauren Murray, has already pursued a music career, with footage surfacing online.
The singer previously performed the lead vocal on a song named Lonely by LaLaLand, a dance act who have collaborated with Timbaland.
As well as starring in a behind-the-scenes video, a live rendition of Murray performing the song can be found on YouTube and sees the singer introduce herself as ‘Lauren from LaLaLand’.
The song was released in 2014 and received its debut on BBC Radio 1Xtra.
It also appears that Murray may have been a member of a five-piece girl group named Syren. An old Twitter profile for the singer, @MissLaurenLala, includes the following information in her bio: “1/5 of @SyrenOfficial”. The Twitter account for Syren is no longer active.
While a former music career doesn’t preclude hopefuls from entering The X Factor, Murray has reportedly stated in interviews that she had no experience of being a professional singer, and was introduced as a receptionist in her first audition.
Murray isn’t the only act from this year’s series to have a history in the industry – controversial contestant Mason Noise was also discovered to have singles, glossy music videos, and a VEVO page prior to joining the show.
Evening Standard have contacted a representative for The X Factor for comment.
