Victoria Beckham is to move the global headquarters of her fashion empire to White City in a major boost for the £8 billion regeneration of the area, the Standard has learned.
The designer, below, who enjoys an A-list following from stars including Eva Longoria and Sienna Miller, will double the size of her base when she relocates from Battersea next year.
She is understood to be in negotiations to secure 40,000 square feet of offices and studio space in Garden House at the BBC’s Media Village complex.
The plans have emerged a month after Beckham’s label was named British luxury brand of the year at the Walpole awards. The designer, 41, is opening a store in Hong Kong next year and said she may look into a beauty line.
White City is 15 minutes by public transport from Oxford Circus, close to her flagship Dover Street store. It is also closer to the family’s home in Holland Park.
The deal is a coup for developers Stanhope and Japan’s Mitsui Fudosan, which hope to establish a creative hub to rival Soho in White City by 2020.
The BBC is withdrawing from much of Media Village to cut costs and Garden House will be ready for occupation next summer. Other names coming to White City include John Lewis and Imperial College.
Stanhope and Beckham declined to comment but local property experts welcomed the potential move.
Simon Stone, head of Stone Real Estate, which is developing The Clockwork Building in Hammersmith, said: “When you get famous and influential brands coming to an area, it has a ripple effect on neighbours. We have had similar companies knocking on our doors.”
