Adele style file: as her tour tickets cause online pandemonium, we take a look at the style story of the singing sensation
She may have one of the world's most adored voices and thrilled her legions of loyal supporters this year by announcing her 36-date tour for 2016, but Adele has been undergoing somewhat of a style transformation over the years.
Since becoming friends with Anna Wintour in 2009, the 27-year-old musician has seen her sartorial choices evolve from short black dresses and tights to dramatic full-length gowns, clever tailoring and splashes of colour, with the likes of Burberry, Chloe and Valentino keen to dress her.
Speaking of her meeting with Wintour when she shot a spread with Annie Leibovitz for American Vogue, Adele said: "I went to go do my final fitting for the shoot. Then Anna Wintour wanted to meet me, so I was waiting in the hallway."
Reported by the Huffington Post, Adele admitted: "It was just like 'The Devil Wears Prada."
"It was amazing. I was really frightened and I went in and she was so nice. She was like, 'What labels do you like?' I was trying to make up these designers that I was quite sure I had read in Vogue or something before."
She went on to reveal that the editor offered to lend her new-found musician friend her styling expertise for the upcoming Grammy Awards.
"Anna Wintour is sorting out my outfit for me. I got a really nice dress."
"I don't ever wear dresses. I wear dresses with tights and flat shoes and a cardigan... It's going to be quite a big deal."
And - considering it was the first time she'd been spotted steering away from greyscale colour spectrum - we'd say it certainly was.
