ArmInfo. Advisor to the President of Russia, Chairman of the Presidential Committee for Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC) Valery Fadeyev sent a letter to the Ambassador of Armenia to the Russian Federation Vagharshak Harutyunyan, in which she asked him to look into the situation in connection with cases of discrimination against Russians at the Zvartnots International Airport.
The published statement notes that the Council has received appeals from Russian citizens who have faced violations of their rights by representatives of the Armenian air carrier FlyOne and employees of the Zvartnots International Airport. It goes on to describe several complaints that they have received.
"Having reviewed the publications in open sources, we have come to the conclusion that the situations described, unfortunately, are not isolated cases.
We ask you to bring the above information to the attention of the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, as well as our position on the inadmissibility of such incidents with citizens of the Russian Federation," reads, in particular, the letter sent on July 23 by the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Human Rights Council Valery Fadeev to the Ambassador of Armenia to the Russian Federation Vagharshak Harutyunyan. In this regard, the head of the Human Rights Council also drew attention to the problem of overbooking, noting that despite the fact that this is, unfortunately, a global practice, it must be recognized that it is vicious and violates the rights of consumers.
