According to a report from Autocar India, Nissan is setting its sights on India’s premium electric SUV segment with the imminent arrival of the stylish and powerful Ariya. Hot on the heels of the X-Trail launch, this new EV will offer a compelling option for discerning buyers seeking a sophisticated electric SUV.
The futuristic silhouette of the Ariya first captivated audiences in its global debut back in 2020. Built on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-EV platform, the Ariya boasts a captivating design. A large gloss black panel dominates the front, flanked by slim LED headlights with V-shaped daytime running lights. The sloping roofline lends a coupe-like character, further accentuated by the prominent shoulder line.
The Ariya caters to diverse driving needs with its selection of single and dual-motor configurations. Three variants are offered, each with a choice of two battery packs – a 63 kWh and an 87 kWh option. The base trim, equipped with the 63 kWh battery, delivers a healthy 214 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 402 km on a single charge. For those seeking extended range, the 87 kWh battery variants offer up to 529 km on a single charge, with power outputs ranging from 239 horsepower to a top-of-the-line 302 horsepower with a staggering 600 Nm of torque.
Stepping inside the Ariya, you’re greeted by a clean and minimalist environment. The dual 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system take center stage. Higher trims offer additional luxuries like a head-up display and a premium Bose sound system. Modern amenities like over-the-air updates and an integrated Alexa assistant ensure a connected and convenient driving experience.
The Nissan Ariya prioritizes safety with its comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies. The ProPILOT 2.0 system provides advanced assistance features, while features like ProPILOT Remote Park and e-Pedal enhance convenience and control. Additional safety features include a 360-degree camera, Forward Collision Warning, Emergency Braking, and Rear Automatic Emergency Braking.
The Nissan Ariya will enter a burgeoning electric SUV segment in India, where established players like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai IONIQ 5 have already carved a niche. However, Nissan’s offering will bring a unique combination of style, performance, and advanced technology to the table, making it a strong contender in this exciting space.
