The actor has been on his toes for a while now promoting the film. He is being his candid best in all the interviews. In a recent interview, he recalled an episode from Gangs Of Wasseypur sets where he almost got beaten up by almost 500 people.

In a conversation with standup comedian Tanmay Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal narrated the incident when the makers of Gangs of Wasseypur shot the coal smuggling scene at a real location. He stated that coal smuggling shown in the film was real and when they captured visuals of illegal sand mining. The actor expressed that it was for the first time for him to see something like that. He added that the team was shooting all of it secretly. He mentioned that there were around 500 people around them. So when a few people showed up, the camera attendant called up someone from the unit stating that there was a situation. The people around felts that the cameraman was talking to someone influential and slapped him. Vicky Kaushal said, "That man slapped the cameraman, snatched the camera from him, and threatened us that they would break the camera. Both of us were about to get beaten up. We somehow escaped and saved our lives (sic)." Well, that's one freaky story, isn't it!
