Comcast X1 set-top users can now create custom notifications on their TVs, thanks to a tie-in with IFTTT.
With IFTTT, users create conditional “recipes” that connect a pair of seemingly disparate Internet services, without having to install a bunch of additional apps. For instance, an alert from a service like ESPN or Fitbit could be passed along to the X1 box.
Here are some examples of potential Comcast recipes:
Users can create their own recipes through the IFTTT website, or choose from some existing ones. The feature can be enabled or disabled at any time through X1 settings, under “Other Services.”
