Member of precinct electoral commission arrested for trying to bribe "No!" Front's proxies

 The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has instituted a criminal case based on the files submitted by Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction, head of the "No!" Front campaign headquarters. Under the case, Zaven Mirijanyan, an employee of the Kentron district administration of Yerevan, has been arrested. Mirijanyan has been a member of the precinct electoral commission for over 10 years.  

According to the media reports, Zaven Mirijanyan did not act alone. He is reported to have acted with the son-in-law of one of the lawmakers from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia. The RPA lawmaker's son-in-law works at the Custom Service. At the moment, his name is not publicized for legal reasons. The media outlets say that the Kentron district administration, which is controlled by Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan, was going to rig the voting results.        
To recall, on November 27, Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia decided to institute a criminal case based on the files submitted by Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) Faction. The Prosecutor General's Office said that Zurabyan's files submitted to Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan contained enough grounds to institute a criminal case based on Article 149 Part 2 Item 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code. "The case has already been submitted to the Investigative Committee for comprehensive and unbiased inquiry," the source said.

To note, on November 26, Levon Zurabyan, Head of the Armenian National Congress Faction and head of the "No!" Front's campaign headquarters, provided Armenian Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan with a video showing the attempts of the supporters of constitutional reforms to bribe the "No!" Front proxies.  "We have many proofs. For now we will present a video footage and will follow the developments," he said, adding that, as a rule, the bribes are given by the members of the "Yes" campaign headquarters, as well as by the governors, mayors and lawmakers from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia.
