Officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Agbado police division in Ogun state, have arrested three notorious armed robbers.
The suspects with the items recovered from them.

DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the state command spokesman who made this known to Punch Metro said the armed robbers who are three in number have been terrorising communities in the Agbado area of the state.
The force mouthpiece who gave the names of the suspects as Yusuf Olohuntoba, aka Ete; Abiola Yekini and Tope Oyeleye, aka Elede confirmed that they were arrested on Monday, November 30. He said other members of the gang identified as Sule; J.J, Absorber and Ramoni are still on the run.
It was gathered that the gang which is allegedly led by Elede and Ramoni, had operated in some houses around Owonikoko and Ayinla areas at about 2.am on the aforementioned day. It was further gathered that they stole phones and other household items including cash. Luck, however, ran out on them as they stopped on Ayinla street to share their loot, but a controversy ensued among them in the process of sharing.
A source disclosed that a resident who saw them sharing their loot put a distress call to the police, who quickly swung into action and mobilised to the area and arrested three of the gang members.
The command spokesman listed the items recovered from the bandits to include; two cut-to-size guns with a live cartridge, two spanners, a burglar proof cutter, one DVD player and 16 mobile phones.
In his confessional statement, 21-year-old Elede, who hails from Ekiti state, said he had been robbing for three years now, adding that he joined the gang after he lost six members of his former seven-man gang in police shootout. He said the police tracked them down after they had killed a banker whom they collected the sum of N7 million from early this year.
“I was initially selling cannabis, but I joined a robbery gang three years ago when I was not making enough money from the drug. We were seven in number bearing Oyenusi; I am Oyenusi 07. We robbed a banker of N7m early this year around RAFCO, Agbado. We killed him because he confronted us. I got N650, 000 in that operation. The six others have been killed.
“We were six in the Monday night operation. I was given four phones and a sum of N2, 000 as my share. There was an argument between Ramon, Sule, J.J, Absorber and I over the sharing formula. We were on it when the policemen came. Ete was not involved but he is my friend,” he said.
On his part, 28-year-old Yekini, who hails from Ibadan, said he robbed because he needed money to pay for his barbering shop.
“I was introduced to the gang by a friend called Anu when I told him I needed N24, 000 to pay my shop rent. I tried in vain to borrow the money from my neighbours.
“This is my first operation and my role was to stay outside to watch for other members robbing residents. I collected the four phones and N500 they gave me without arguing with them. I really regret what I did,” he said.
There was a mild drama as one of the suspects; Ete insisted he was a cobbler and argued that he was not guilty of the crime as he was only a friend to Elede.

Speaking further on the arrest, DSP Adejobi hinted that the suspects would soon be transferred to the state’s criminal investigation department, Eleweran, for more investigation. He said Ete’s fate would be ascertained upon completion of the investigation
“A distress call was received that some robbers were terrorising residents of the Ayinla area and Anti-Robbery men swiftly moved and cordoned off the area. Three of them were arrested while others fled. The suspects will be transferred to SCID and charged to court after investigation,” he said.
In another news, an unidentified man was reportedly burgled by men suspected to be armed robbers in his Iyana Isolo, Lagos residence.
As we stepped into the ember months, there have been incessant reports of robbery incidents in Lagos and its environs in recent weeks. Few weeks ago armed robbers raided a bank in Agbara area of Ogun state, killing innocent customers and security operatives.
